Tell me more

It's here... fall and the holiday season.

Recently when a friend asked me how I feel about fall and the holidays, I found myself sharing a mix of things:

My delight in the crisp air, the changing leaves, and the ability to put on a cozy sweater and boots.
My tender awareness of loss, past and present.
My excitement for sweet activities like going to a pumpkin patch.
My dread for the collective craze to come.

Many of us feel a deep ambivalence about this "family and festivities" time of year.

As a highly sensitive person, it means so much more stimulation, more collective energy, and more socializing.

As a therapist and coach of many years, I know most of us feel this way.

Maybe you also feel the mixed bag of hope, longing, grief, strain, and pleasure that can all be present at once.
And if you've gone through hardships and trauma, this season has a way of bringing them up, like a finger pressing on a bruise.

Over the years, I've felt the need to create practices to help myself calm my nervous system and learn to set boundaries to take care of my self.

Truly, this has helped my holidays go from "oh-my-gosh-this-is-SO-stressful" to "okay, I may have periods of stress but I feel confident that I can get re-centered and take care of myself".

I wanted to create some support that will help you go into the holidays feeling the same.

Starting on Friday, 10/28, we'll begin a 3-session support series.
I won't just be teaching about these topics;
I'll lead you in fun, grounding, and reflective exercises to actually experience these tools so you're ready to implement them when you need them.

I'd love to support you in creating a more peaceful few months (truly, you do have some control over this).
It's been a hard time to be human, and this is one way you can take be kind to your sensitive soul.

Hi, I'm Brooke.
Your HSP Mentor
+ Encourager

Most of us HSPs grew up feeling "too sensitive", "too much" and at the same time, not enough. My desire is to help you challenge those perceptions so that you can start celebrating your strengths.

I bring my expertise as a trauma-informed and HSP-specialized therapist to give you tools for feeling more confident and living a more energized life.

As an HSP myself, I'm a voracious learner, nature lover, and introvert (though talking with other HSPs is some of my favorite type of connection)! I live near the Boulder mountains with my husband and golden retriever, Theo.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many meetings will there be and what will be covered?

We'll have 3 group meetings, each 1.5 hours long.

Group 1 - Holiday Nervous System Regulation for Sensitives: How to Stay in Your Sweet Spot
  • Identify whether you're in fight, flight, or freeze and quickly shift back to centered and strong

Group 2 - Cultivating Self-Trust Even When There's Chaos
  • Create visual anchors that helps you quickly access your inner support

Group 3 - Protecting Your Peace Through Gentle and Effective Boundaries
  • Boundary skills that won't stress you out; simple scripts that make self-care easy

I may not be able to attend live...can I still participate?

Yes! All meetings will be recorded and available to you within a day or two of our meeting.  Because the series will center on my teaching and your personal work through the exercises I lead, you should be able to have a wonderful growth experience whether or not you attend every - or any - group live.

Is this a support group? Is there a lot of group interaction?

While I hope this series will be hugely supportive to you, it's not a support group in the typical sense. Each 1.5 hour session will be a combination of me teaching and you engaging in experiential exercises in the comfort of your home such as meditations, visualizations, journaling, and more.

I may occasionally have break out rooms for you to share your thoughts with another participant or two, but there won't be a huge amount of group conversation.

One caveat is that you will  be in the presence of other wonderful sensitives like yourself, and that often feels supportive in and of itself.
